Unlike Wayne Rooney, Diego Costa, Gylfi Sigurdsson and even James Chester of our other 'Nailed On' picks, a Manchester United defender did not feature in our draft this time last week. We were looking at Ben Davies of Spurs to start with to partner with John Terry and Debuchy. Competition from Danny Rose for the left back spot plus Spurs' current 'half-strength' defence (Vertonghen and Walker missing) has ultimately put us Davies and thus opened the door for Phil Jones.
One look at our recently redesigned Fixture Analyser will show you exactly why a Manchester United defender should be nailed on in your fantasy team. With the Fixture Analyser set to show DEFENCE RATINGS for the next 6 games United's looks like this:
We have to say we aren't all that sold on United as a top tier defensive side to match the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal over the course of the season - but with these fixtures we don't need to be! They are EPIC.
And so Phil Jones joins Rooney, Costa, Sigurdsson and Chester as five players that will definitely make our GW1 time tomorrow. We've a pretty good idea of the rest of the team. Indeed, both are goalkeepers and cheap defender we would say are nailed on two. The biggest dilemma for fantasy managers at this juncture has to be which of the many high potential midfielders to go with:
We'll let you know our final GW1 team in our free newsletter which we send out each week with our latest team and transfers and goings on in the absorbing world of fantasy football.
